ONLINE APPOINTMENTS
Please note only patients who have already attended at Wellness on Wellington are able to make an appointment on line.
If you are a New Patient to the practice please call our friendly receptionists on 9780 8900 to arrange a time.

We are a privately billing practice – please check the fees tab on our website for detailed information.

Please note that our direct billing to Medicare for eligible pensioners, healthcare card holders and children has recently changed and is now available Monday – Friday from 9am to 4pm.

An on line appointment has been successfully created when you receive a confirmation SMS or email. This will occur within 10 minutes if you have completed all the required steps.

APPOINTMENTS

We are aware that your time is just as important as ours, and we do try to run to time. However, general practice is full of unexpected emergencies and problems which may be more complicated than they first seem. We therefore hope you will understand that if we sometimes run late, it is because we are devoting as much effort to another patient’s problem as you would expect us to dedicate to yours.

Appointments are not essential, but are preferred and are given priority. Patients without appointments may therefore have to wait longer than patients who arrive after them.

Naturally, accidents and emergencies are attended to urgently, and serious problems are seen immediately. This can also result in unavoidable delays.

A standard appointment is 10-15 minutes depending on the doctor. If you have a complicated problem, or several issues to address, please ask for a longer appointment when you book. This will leave us enough time to properly address your problems, without inconveniencing those who attend after you.
We are happy to accept phone calls if free, but because we prefer not to interrupt appointments, we will normally only return calls at the end of the day, except of course in emergencies. Please advise the receptionist if the matter is urgent.

 

HOME VISITS & HOSPITALS

Wellness on Wellington provides a full range of patient care. Whilst it is always preferable to see patients in the clinic where all equipment is available, we are happy to see patients in their own homes when necessary. If you require a home visit, please provide as much notice as possible, so that a suitable time can be arranged. If possible, please call before lunchtime for same day visits.

We are also happy to care for you in hospital, either on our own, or in conjunction with specialists, depending on your condition. We hold admitting rights to the Angliss Hospital for public and private patients and The Valley, South Eastern Private and Knox Private Hospitals.

On Tuesdays and Fridays we attend Peppertree Hill Retirement Village for the local residents. On Tuesdays we also attend Waterford Valley Retirement Village. Please book the day before.

 

CONTINUITY OF CARE, PRIVACY AND RECALLS

We encourage you to find a doctor you are comfortable with, and see them whenever possible. However if your usual doctor is unavailable, the other doctors have access to your medical records and can safely continue your care. Your notes, and all details of your medical consultation, are kept strictly confidential.

If you want to see a copy of our Privacy Policy, how we comply with the National Privacy Principles or how to access your medical record, please ask at reception.

We often teach medical and pharmacy students. We hope you allow these students, who will provide your care in the future, to sit in with us and learn about the full range of problems seen in General Practice, but the decision is entirely yours. You can refuse permission or ask them to leave at any time.
We run an active recall and reminder system. Enrolment is automatic, so if you don’t want to receive reminder letters or phone calls from us about health matters, please advise your doctor.

 

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS AND REFERRALS

We believe patients on regular medication should have their conditions reviewed periodically. Patients should therefore make an appointment when requesting a repeat prescription. In the rare case where a doctor agrees to write a prescription without an appointment, a $18 script fee will apply.

In order for referrals to specialists to be up to date and meaningful, your doctor will need to review your condition prior to writing the letter. For this reason, and because Medicare will not accept postdated referrals, please make an appointment to see your doctor before the specialist consultation. In many cases we find that the problem can in fact be managed satisfactorily by us, saving you the expense and inconvenience of attending a specialist.

 

SUGGESTIONS, COMPLAINTS AND IMPROVEMENTS

We welcome all your feedback as we regard this as an opportunity to improve our service. Please feel free to speak to your doctor or any of the reception staff. If you are not satisfied, ask to speak to the practice manager or the principal doctor. Alternatively, you can remain anonymous by leaving a note in the waiting room suggestions box. If you wish to take a matter up externally, you can contact the Health Services Commissioner on 1300 582 113.
